Mother’s Day
A decade and eight years has passed
since I was born to you.
You’ve been a mummy longer though-
and quite a good one too!
“My baby! Oh I love her!”
The mummy cried with joy.
“I’ll not wash muddy football boots,
I’m glad it’s not a boy!”
Through trials and tribulations,
(and Pride and Prejudice too),
a car, some food and weighing scales,
a teddy bear or two!
And now it’s Mothers’ Day again,
I’ll write a little verse
to cherish all the good times gone:
Let’s hope things can’t get worse!
Reunion
I missed you when you went away
and nothing was the same.
I miss the laughs, I miss the jokes:
now nothing is a game…
I know I haven’t kept in touch,
but you are still my friend.
The memories that we still share,
will never, ever end.
And now we’re going to meet again
on the bumpy road of life.
I think we’ll find a lot has changed,
for example: I’m a wife!
I just can’t wait to see you
but I’m going to be in France
until the 5th of August,
but I’m sure I’ll get a chance
to get to know you once again
and have a lot more fun.
Our friendship never ended:
we’ve only just begun!
Something About Mary
There’s something about Mary
that always makes me smile.
She always makes me happy-
and not just for a while.
I wear my pink boots every day-
except for when it’s wet-
just because they came from you,
so I cannot forget
that there is someone out there-
and not so far away-
who seems to really get me,
and gets me through each day.
I don’t know how I managed
Before you came along;
I think I must have struggled,
I waited for so long.
But now that you have found me,
you’ve shown me that it’s true,
that good things come to those who wait-
but none as good as you!
So thank you for arriving
and helping me to grow.
There’s something about Mary,
but what, I’ll never know!
Ladybird
When a Ladybird starts her journey,
she doesn’t know where it will lead.
So she packs up her spots
and her shiny red coat,
and she takes all the things she might need.
She isn’t afraid of a challenge,
she isn’t afraid to be wrong;
She isn’t afraid
to stand up for herself;
Her bold colours will help keep her strong.
When she reaches a place that inspires her,
she flutters her wings with delight.
The breeze clears the dust
and the clouds from the sky,
and she knows that her future looks bright.
